Our Mini Twists are TRULY handmade

Our Mini Twists are TRULY handmade

If you’ve ever seen a bundle of twists online or in a beauty supply store and thought, “This looks just like Femafric…” you’re not alone. I’ve seen it too. And I've seen when yall tag @femafric too, thanks!!

And honestly? I was nervous.

After being less active during 2023 and 2024, and becoming very active again at the start of 2025, I started noticing more and more mini twist variations. Mini twist with almost the same curl. At least, from afar.

I went to the store. I bought a few of those “dupes.”

That’s when the relief hit.

Not because the hair was terrible, but because it clarified what I’ve always known.

There’s nothing like handmade.  You will see the wording on thier label to sell thier twist, "handmade quality". Dont be confused with that wording "handmade quality" is not the same thing as actually being handmade. We’ll never try to compete with mass production.

From Afar, They Might Look Alike. But the Feel? Not Even Close.

Ever since we launched our own handmade mini twists, I had a quiet fear in the back of my mind about the impact. “These factories are going to dupe it.”

But when I touched that pack in the store, and later tested it at home, it sharpened my perspective. These companies aren’t making bad hair. They’re just making something else entirely.

The mass-produced twists has a rigid curl. You can’t really unravel them without compromising the structure. They looked okay on the shelf, but the feeling, the texture, the movement? It was missing.

Handmade twists are different.

They move. They breathe. They blend in like your own.

The Difference Is in the Method

💛 Our curls are designed to mimic natural hair. There is a unique hand-precision to seal each twist. No shortcuts. No brittle ends.

💛 Our fiber is soft, premium, and wearable for long stretches without the irritation.

We’ve touched what’s out there. We’ve tested it. And we’ve come back more certain of our product.

From Passion Project to a Real Platform

For those that can remember as far back as 2020 we didn’t begin with mini twists. We started with larger kinky twists and braided wigs. I just remember growing up, I would see aunties return from back home 🌍 with suitcases full of handmade styles to sell in the community.

That is really the essence of what I wanted to create with femafric, recognizing that handmade hair extension styles already has value, and people already cared about it. So I thought, why not create a store that made these styles more accessible, with better service, more consistency, and modern flair?

Thanks to how ecommerce and social media evolved, we see Nigerian vendors and other African-owned brands shipping worldwide, building platforms and reaching women everywhere. It’s exciting. And it affirms that this work matters.

At Femafric, we take a slightly different approach. Instead of focusing more on custom orders, we aim to stock enough inventory so you can shop directly. That way, you get handmade quality without waiting too long.

What Our Customers Say

I went live on TikTok recently, and a customer hopped in and said, “No. I tried the other stuff. There’s a difference. You can feel it right away.”

That kind of feedback means everything.

💬 “I’ve never felt crochet hair like this before.”

💬 “This feels like real hair. It’s soft and it lasts.”

Some customers, I spoke with on the phone tell me they've tried the dupes. And many come back. Because once you’ve worn real handmade twists, the machine-made versions don’t measure up in the same way.

So… Why Does Femafric Cost More?

Because it gives more. Because it serves more.

Each purchase supports the women who craft every twist with pride and skill. Your order creates jobs and opportunities in Sierra Leone, while giving you hair that holds up with softness, style, and strength.

You’re not just buying a hairstyle. You’re getting:

✔️ Longevity you can count on

✔️ Unique, bold color blends

✔️ Softness that doesn’t irritate or frizz

✔️ Ethical, human-centered production

We’re Focused on Serving the Right Customers

What's abundantly understood, it’s about staying committed to the quality and community that brought us this far.

Our priority is the customers who are here now. The ones who value the difference. The ones who choose handmade beauty over mass-production.

Thank you being with us. Thank you for recognizing the heart behind what we create.
